Conclusion
In conclusion, all of my hypothesis were more or less wrong. Because of the sufficient lack of usable responses (only 20 when I expected at least 40), I have discovered the limits of social networking. As vast as we think the internet’s powers may be, it doesn’t always work out to our advantage. There are also time restraints to work out. My perceptions about Whitman’s reception were also vastly different. Not only was I hoping for dissention, but I also assumed that Whitman would be directly linked to America. Instead I got overwhelming approval and Whitman reinterpreted and applied to the readers’ own cultural backgrounds, allowing for an etirely different reading and perception of the text. I hope to continue the study so that I can not only garner more opinions, but also be able to safely connect interpretations of the text.
